Have you SEEN it yet?

SEEN is the new, monthly e-newsletter for science education in NI. We're launching it in September 2007 to try to encourage communication and sharing of news and resources between science educators across Northern Ireland.
In the past it has been difficult to keep in touch with all of the different projects and events taking place across the province. The flexibility of the revised curriculum offers new opportunities for teachers to innovate in the classroom and to integrate sources of informal science education into their teaching.

Creating shows - an art or a science?

Paul gave a presentation on creativity and developing interactive shows at the BIG event in Rotherham in July. An article based on the presentation can be downloaded as a pdf document here. Discovering Queen's sponsorship 2007-08

We're delighted to announce the continued sponsorship of our primary programme by Queen's University as part of Discovering Queen's. This support allows us to refresh and extend our primary school shows. You can find out more about the objectives of this initiative here.

Science Live Award for 2007

think differently has again been selected as one of the Science Live lectures by the Royal Dublin Society. This year the grant will be used to significantly revise the post-primary show "Move it!". The revised show be touring the Republic for two weeks in November as part of Science Week and the Galway Festival of Science and Technology.

on-going consultancy projects

Although I have reduced the number of consultancy projects I am taking on because of my research commitments, I am currently involved with:
- ongoing evaluation of "visualise" at the Edinburgh fringe;
- evaluation support for the EPSRC-funded "Making the Chemical Connection"" project at the University of Einburgh;
- "Playing with flight" cross-community project in Derry;
-developing a flight workshop for the Museum of Flight, Edinburgh.

Bin it to Win it! launch

After a successful pilot last year we will be offering this show about rubbish to schools and local Councils from October 2007. The show uses a quiz format, science demonstrations, audience participation and magic tricks to communicate important messages about waste.
